Reading: A Hunger Like No Other

My Amazon package arrived yesterday with the first three books of Kresley Cole’s “The Immortals After Dark Series” for my reading pleasure. I’ve just finished A Hunger Like No Other and I have to say I recommend this one wholeheartedly.

Passion–not merely sex–fills the pages from beginning to end, mixed up with action, adventure, and plenty of the paranormal. For all fans of the erotic paranormal romance, this is one great read!

Emmaline (Emma) Troy has been seeking the truth about her parents when she is scented by a Lykae. She’s Lachlain MacRieve’s mate, only she’s a half-Vampire, half-Valkyrie and he’s just escaped from one hundred and fifty years of torture by the Vampire Horde.

Her seduction is paramount to their future happiness and they make us wait as they work out more than one otherworldly issue that stands between them.

Emma is a timid heroine, but I loved seeing her grow into her abilities and her strength as the story progressed. Lachlain’s early madness rang true. Many passages beg for rereading at a later date, likely after I’ve finished the series, mainly because this is one of those series where you immediately put down the book you’ve just finished so you can go straight into the next.

Another thing I liked about A Hunger Like No Other was the limited number of characters. It wasn’t difficult to keep names and species separate. Although it’s clear the cast of characters is expansive, only the important people were introduced by name. This is important to me because sometimes the extraneous info can be a waste of brain power when in many books a lot of the named characters play little part in the overall storyline.

The other two currently available books: No Rest For the Wicked, Wicked Deeds On a Winter’s Night.
